What to Expect On Your First Visit

The First Steps

During your first visit, we will take your medical history thoroughly. This is important before we proceed to a chosen dental procedure. Afterwards, we will run a comprehensive exam through quick dental X-rays. From there, we will discuss initial diagnosis, specific treatment options, nature of the procedure, and your general sedation preference.

Frequently Asked Questions

We will do our best to keep you comfortable. Since we have the right equipment and expertise, you will feel little or even zero discomfort.

Yes, x-rays are needed in a periodontal exam. Through x-rays, we can establish the proper diagnosis. If you have a current x-ray, it will be forwarded to us by your referring dentist.

Dental x-rays are safe because they rely on very small, non-harmful doses of radiation. Plus, we use digital x-rays – these are known for even smaller radiation doses compared to traditional dental x-rays.

The fees depend on your initial examination. Not all patients have the same results, so the fees will vary. Once you’ve visited our dental clinic, we can provide an approximation to help you prepare.

While most dental insurance plans cover periodontal treatment, the type of coverage is not the same. During your visit, please bring your dental insurance card and other important forms so we can assess the coverage of your plan.

For most periodontal cases, surgery is not needed. Gum issues can be managed through proper dental hygiene and maintenance. But if you need to be put under surgery, don’t panic! We will do our best to keep you comfortable and relaxed.

Our general sedation methods are also flexible enough to match your preferences.

With the advances of periodontal treatment, we have the capabilities to save most teeth.

Yes. Bear in mind that we will also work closely with your general dentist. And if you don’t have one, we’re happy to send referrals.

By all means, you’re free to do so. But you should remember that periodontal disease is progressive and will cause more damage. If the damage is deeper, they will be more challenging to fix and costlier too.

We will strive hard to save as many of your teeth as possible. Through gum treatment, however, your teeth’s form and function can be properly restored.
